Year 1 and Year 6 - Nativity Story

Years 1 and 6 got together on Wednesday of the final week of term. Year 6 wanted to share their RE work with the year 1 children.

The year 6 children had produced a book of the nativity story in their RE lessons. Then each year 6 child was paired with a year 1 child and the year 6 read their story to the year 1 child. Then the children were given time to discuss what they had heard and ask any questions. Some year 1 children even had a go at reading the story for themselves with the help of their year 6 partner.

The children loved this activity and the pictures below show the children sharing their stories and discussing them.

Year 1 Sharing Assembly 20th Nov

Year 1 shared some of the work that they have been doing in maths this week.
We have been looking at subtraction and some of the different vocabulary that means subtraction.
We have been using Numicon to help us understand and calculate subtractions.
The children have really enjoyed this work and are really starting to use Numicon confidently.

Tudor Buildings!

The last week of the first half-term was our creative week, Tudor Times.
One of the activities we did in class was to use different materials to make a picture to show what a Tudor building looks like. This was an ambitious activity but the children through themselves into the activity and really enjoyed the work they produced. Before is some pictures of the children doing the activity.
If you would like to see the finished product you can find some examples on our display boards outside the classroom.
